Crochet Club

Group of fifteen women gathered around three tables behind a home, probably the DMC Club, an exclusive social and sewing society named for an imported brand of French fancywork cotton crocheting, also known locally as the Damn Mean Crowd Club by outsiders. Identified by Joanne Dougherty, sitting from left to right, as: unidentified, Mrs. Ludovic Dimmick, Mrs. Louis Jones, unidentified, Mrs. Anton Johnson, Mrs. Rufus Jones, Mrs. J.J. McGilivray, Flora LeClair (in rocking chair), unidentified, Mrs. John Marsh, unidentified, Edna Richards Turner, Mrs. Will Richards, Nina Mason Werner, and Mrs. Charles Van Schaick, standing. Behind them quilts are hanging on a line from the edge of the house all the way across the background, and there are rugs on the ground. |
