C.W. and George L. Rapp of Chicago were the architects who designed the theater. They also designed the Capitol Theater two years later. The estimated cost of the Orpheum was $450,000. The Orpheum originally belonged to the Beecroft Building Company, whose principle interest was held by Dr. W.G. Beecroft of Madison, and Parkway Theater Company. Originally published in a Wisconsin State Journal column entitled "Have You Seen This Madison?". The column ran from 1969 to 1977. |
