The horizontal design of this home with its clear, precise angular features and horizontal banding of windows, embodies an architectural style developed in the Midwest. The Prairie style, whose principal spokesmen were Louis H Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright, emerged between about 1900 and 1914. Originally published in a Wisconsin State Journal column entitled "Have You Seen This Madison?". The column ran from 1969 to 1977. |
