Old Mission Inn

The Old Mission Inn, originally built as a mission house in 1832 by the Congregational mission established by Frederick Ayer in 1830. In later years further additions were made to the building, and a wing and balconies were added when it was turned into a resort hotel. Text at top reads: "In the land of the Ojibway on the historic shores of Chequamegon Bay." Caption reads: "'Old Mission' — Madeline Island in Lake Superior, Wisconsin." "Edward Salmon, Owner and Manager." "Season: June to September." |
