The facility was built in 1845 when it was known as the Dane County Asylum for the Criminally Insane. In 1880, it became a part of the county hospital system, which was set up to provide longer term care to people who were discharged from the state hospital system. The facility is now known as Badger Prairie Health Care Center. The older parts of the building are deteriorating and vacant and are currently scheduled for demolition. |
