Smith served as a judge in Outagamie County. He was later elected to the Wisconsin Assembly, 1855 and 1858-1859 and the Wisconsin State Senate in 1856-1857. Smith left politics in 1857 to become Vice President of the Chicago, St. Paul and Fond du Lac Railroad. |
