Mabel Tainter Memorial Building

The Mabel Tainter Memorial building was a facility erected in 1889-1890 with funds provided by Andrew Tainter, part owner and manager of the Knapp, Stout and Co. Lumber Co. It was designed by architect Harvey Ellis. A memorial to Tainter's daughter (who died tragically at age 20), the building was administered by an endowed trust known as the Mabel Tainter Library, Literary and Educational Society. It was also utilized initially for religious services by the local Unitarian Association of which the Tainter family were members. |
