Ruins of the commissary warehouse at Fort Winnebago, about 1898. Fort Winnebago was closed in 1845 and the land and buildings sold. Today, only the Surgeon's quarters and Indian Agency House still stand. The Surgeon's quarters building is owned by Wisconsin Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Indian Agency House is owned by the Colonial Dames. |
