The Evolution of a Soldier

Four photographs with handwritten captions. The photograph at top left is a group portrait with a caption that reads: "Soon after reaching Waco, the 1st Wis. Cavalry became the 120th Field Artillery. The picture is of the burying of the yellow (cavalry) hat cord by one of the troops." The other three photographs represent a soldier in summer 1917, winter 1917 and spring 1919 captioned: "The evolution of a soldier." |
