Hubert Humphrey Campaigning

Senator Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota campaigning for the presidential nomination in southwestern Wisconsin. Humphrey stands at the historical marker in Coon Valley which commemorates the first watershed erosion project in the nation. Standing at the left of the photograph (wearing eyeglasses, but no hat) is Patrick J. Lucey, then chairman of the Wisconsin Democratic Party. During the 1950s when Wisconsin had two Republican senators, Wisconsin Democrats looked to Humphrey as their senator. |
