Historical Society Design

Front elevation and floor plans submitted by Milwaukee architect, H. C.Koch & Co., for the Wisconsin Historical Society building design competition. The building commission preferred this design, but asked Ferry & Clas (also of Milwaukee), who had submitted a very different scheme, to revise the final plan according to Koch's concept. The nod went to Ferry & Clas because they had previously designed the Milwaukee Public Library, which had also included the special requirement of a library and museum building. This sheet appeared in Inland Architect and News Record. |
