Senator and Mrs. McCarthy

Senator Joseph R. McCarthy and his new bride, the former Jean Kerr, arrive at the federal building in New York City where a hearing concerning security risks at Fort Monmouth was taking place. McCarthy canceled a three-week honeymoon in the Bahamas in order to take part in the hearing. McCarthy, long considered one of the most eligible bachelors in Washington, D.C., married his legislative assistant on September 23. Over 1000 guests attended their wedding. |
