Assembly Chamber

Newly elected assemblymen in the newly constructed Assembly Chamber of the present Wisconsin State Capitol. On the right is Merlin Hull of Black River Falls, later secretary of state and U.S. congressman. Others with him include Walter Egan of Superior, C.E. McConnell of La Crosse, and Frank Hannumill of Spooner. The legislators are sitting at desks from the Third Capitol, suggesting that a substantial number were rescued from the flames during the fire of 1904. The old desks were sold in 1913 when new furniture was purchased. |
