Braves Pitcher Gene Conley

Milwaukee Braves pitcher Gene Conley winds up. After a 0-4 start, Conley moved to the bullpen in 1957 but regained a spot in the starting rotation in late July. He won five of six starts between July 19 and August 11. He finished the season with a 9-9 record and 3.16 ERA and was fourth on the staff in innings pitched. A National League All Star in 1954, '55 and '59, the 6'9" Conley played basketball during the off-season, winning three NBA titles as a forward-center with the Boston Celtics (1959-61). |
