Single Helical Gear Train
Single helical gear train that is a component of a gold mine hoist. This unit was purchased and used by Homestake Mining of Lead, South Dakota. Falk caption reads, "One of the largest hoists in the world at time of installation. Each motor is 1500 HP 350 RPM. Motors and pinions couple by size 240F Steelflex coupling. Pictures obtained as a possible story about Falk in a future Handy Facts on gold and minerals. Photos obtained by Rick Burgermeister, Denver office. Original returned to Homestake. |
