Building Diversion Terraces with Farmall H Tractor
Hugh N. Brown is using a Farmall H and 2-bottom 14-inch plow to build diversion terraces. Shocks of corn are in the background. The original caption reads: "Hugh N. Brown of Route 1, Indiana, Pennsylvania, who recently purchased a 138-acre farm is shown building diversion terraces with his new Farmall-H and 2-bottom 14-inch plow on a hillside field. Slope of the field varies from 10 to 12 percent and width of strips between the terraces is 80 to 100 feet. After the terraces were finished they were seeded to grass and Mr. Brown said he planned to keep these diversion terraces permanently in sod. Corn and oats and also some soybeans will be planted in alternate strips." |
