The original caption reads: "Ball bearing assembly lines in new ball bearing department of West Pullman Works (Chicago) of International Harvester Company. The proper size of races is selected from compartments and balls are assembled between the inner and outer race. The retainer is then added and crimped on air press. After complete inspection, bearings are placed in baskets on the roller conveyor which takes them to the washing machine and the final packing station." |
