International Six-Speed Special Traveling Sample Truck

Three men pose with an International "traveling sample floor" truck in front of the Oskaloosa Implement Company building. The original caption reads: "A traveling sample floor. Middle of winter though it is this salesman takes his samples with him. The Oskaloosa Implement Co., Oskaloosa, Iowa, fitted out this Six-Speed Special with platform body for the special use of the canvasser. It is not used for delivery or any kind of hauling. It is wholly a canvasing (sic) proposition and the truck chassis is to be sold and a new one substituted before there is much if any depreciation in value. The truck is kept continually in the minds of the farmers and the salesman, as well as added interest at each call through the sample machines carried. The men in the picture are, left to right, C.A. Hefley, member of the firm, W.E. Mack, blockman, Scott Hilton, canvaser (sic) for the Implement Co. Mr. Mack is being transferred to foreign sales. We understand that he is to report in Chicago soon and later sail for Singapore." |
