Studio portrait of Timothy Howe. Born in Livermore, Me., Feb. 24, 1816. Member of the Maine legislature in 1845. He moved to Wisconsin; was elected a judge of the circuit court in 1850, served on the bench till he resigned, in 1855; elected three times to the United States senate, first taking his seat in 1861; postmaster-general, 1882.
