The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Muskego, Wisconsin. On November 28, 1861, he enlisted in Madison, Wisconsin and on December 12, 1861 he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 20. He was wounded on September 19, 1863 during the battle at Chickamauga, Georgia. Following the battle, he was sent to a hospital where he spent the remainder of the war recovering from his wounds. Tjorbjornsen was born May 25, 1843 in Telemark and emigrated to Wisconsin in 1847. A corporal in Company G of the 15th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, he was entered on the Roll of Honor for bravery in December 1862. The C and 15 on his stole denote his company and regiment. Members of Company C called themselves the "Norway Bear Hunters." |
