Laboratory of the Plastics Division of the Consolidated Papers Company of Wisconsin Rapids. The man on the left has been identified as chemist Jay Somers, who was hired in 1942 to establish the program to develop a paper-based plastic laminate for military use during World War II. The division later became known as Consoweld and Somers was appointed its general manager and vice-president. |
