From the back of the photograph: The newspaper was begun in the East in 1903 as a Socialist organ, but was moved to Hancock, Michigan. Partly as a result of the hostile climate prevailing in Hancock, partly because of the failure of the Copper Strike of 1913-1914, the newspaper was moved to Superior where it has appeared regularly. In 1919-21, it followed the Finnish Workers' Federation out of the American Socialist Party and in 1929-1931 followed the line of the Communist Party and is now the Midwestern organ of the Finnish Section of the International Workers' Order. |
