Republican Presidential Ticket

Monroe County Republican Party ticket, headed by James G. Blaine and John A. Logan. Blaine lost to the Democrat Grover Cleveland. Names on the statewide ticket that met with greater success were Jeremiah M. Rusk, who was elected governor and who went on to serve as secretary of agriculture under President Harrison, and Nils P. Haugen, who served three terms in Congress and went on to become a nationally-known tax expert during the administration of Governor Robert La Follette. |
