This locomotive was the first train on this railroad line to enter Chicago on July 26, 1886, the year that the road was completed. Engine #42 was one of four locomotives built by the Manchester Locomotive Works, numbered 42-45, and commonly called "Blood Engines". #42 was in main line passenger service until about 1894, on the Manitowoc Branch until about 1910 and scrapped in 1912. |
