Man Fitting Copper Tubing for Torpedo
![Man Fitting Copper Tubing for Torpedo A factory worker uses an oxy-acetylene torch to fit a copper tube in the production of an aircraft torpedo. He is wearing an International Harvester Company / McCormick button on his shirt. Original caption reads: "A great amount of copper tubing is used in the construction of the torpedo, much of which must be bent and fitted to precise dimensions. In order to do this work by mass production methods, the company adopted the use of an acetylene heat flame. The operator holds the flame on the tubing and slowly bends it to fit a master jig, as shown in the photograph. This method has greatly speeded [sic] up the operation."](http://images.wisconsinhistory.org/700003050579/0305006275-l.jpg)
