Donated by Brother Joseph Dutton (1843-1931) of Janesville, Wisconsin, who served as a lay brother at the Kalaupapa Leper Colony at Kalawao on the Hawaiian island of Molokai beginning in 1886. At the time of donation, Brother Dutton wrote, the rosary had a small crucifix and medal (possibly 1975.257.3) and that it "was also hanging in Fr. Damien's house. I am not sure he ever used this." |
