One of three images. Published in the Wisconsin State Journal on September 25, 1949. Stonefield covers 2,000 acres overlooking the Mississippi River. The original Gothic Revival summer home was lost to fire in 1873. The current, scaled-down version was built in 1879 on the home's original foundation. The ice house and smokehouse survived the fire and exist in their original condition. |
