Interior view of the Janesville Public Library. The library opened in 1903 and was funded by Andrew Carnegie at $30,000 and Eldred at $10,000. The reverse of the cardboard backing reads: "Arbor Day Exhibit, Janesville Public Library, Children's Room, I Perching birds." and "Carnegie Building, 1903, $30,000; J. T. W. Jennings, Madison, Architects." In the foreground is a round reading table with bentwood chairs, and a children's reading table. Bookshelves line the walls, and there is a large display of stuffed birds on top of them. |
