Drawing Room in Governor's Residence
The Stately drawing room is full of shades of green and lilac, repeated in the flowered draperies. Conversation pieces on the mantel and elsewhere about the home include objects borrowed from the State Historical Society and gifts sent to Wisconsin on the French Gratitude Train (Merci Train). The train was composed of 49 cars, each bearing gifts for one of the United States plus one car with gifts to be divided between Hawaii and Alaska, which had not yet been granted statehood. |
