Goodbye to Local 50

Members of the United Packinghouse Workers of America Local 50 at a ceremony marking the closure of the Swift & Company plant in Milwaukee. The local was organized about 1932 by the Amalgamated Meat Cutters, but it left to join the CIO's UPWA when that union was formed in 1937. The men are (left to right) Felix Wright, John Maren, Eddie Hampton, Calvin Birts, Henry Schroeder (president), and Emil Sobstad. |
