Original caption reads: "In gratitude for extra service performed by C.O. Johnson, proprietor of the C.O. Johnson Implement Company, Denver, Gleb Ilyin, famous Russian portrait artist, painted a portrait of Mr. Johnson. Mr. Ilyin operates a small farm near Denver, and is owner of a new Farmall M and other International Harvester equipment. J.I. Chitwood, assistant manager, Denver general line branch, wrote an article for Harvester World about Messrs. Johnson and Ilyin and how this painter, whose more notable portraits include one of Mrs. Herbert Hoover, was impelled to paint one of Mr. Johnson. Mr. Chitwood asked me to go to Mr. Ilyin's farm and shoot pictures of Mr. Ilyin and Mr. Johnson." |
