Original caption: "Now, Fellows, here is a 6 1/2 foot Man-Eating Shark weighing 141 pounds, and fairy, fascinating Valkyrien caught the monster on a hook and line after a 2 hour fight. But, don't forget it, the hook was a foot long and weighed 1 1/2 pounds, and there was 6 feet of forged chain between the hook and the line. The shark was caught off Coquina Beach, Florida, on a No. 16 hard-laid line. The monster gave some viscious long-distance spurts that laid open the hands of the peerless and fearless Valkyrien almost to the bone, but she hung on, boys, as you see." |
