Solarium

A view of the solarium at the Hotel Vendome. The solarium is arranged with plants and wicker chairs. Built in 1871 and massively expanded in 1881, the Vendome was a luxury hotel located in Boston's Back Bay, just north of Copley Square. During the 1960s, the Vendome suffered four small fires. The Hotel Vendome caught fire on June 17, 1972 resulting in the worst fire fighting tragedy in Boston history when 9 fire fighters were killed due to part of the building collapsing. |
