Superior Chippewa Indians

Four Odanah Ojibwa women standing outdoors at the edge of a blanket laying on the ground. The blanket has various ceremonial Ojibwa artifacts including a drum, drum sticks, and rattles. All the women are wearing long dresses, and one dress has a beaded yoke and hem. One woman is holding the women's veteran Eagle Staff that was made c. 1870. This eagle staff was damaged in a fire in the mid-1900's, but as of 2010 it still survives. Each eagle feather on the staff represents a deceased veteran. |
