Wallace Stegner

Writer and conservationist Wallace Stegner, and his wife Mary, during a visit to Alaska as a member of the National Parks Advisory Board and special assistant to Stewart Udall, Secretary of the Interior. Although most often associated with the West, Stegner's early teaching career was at the University of Wisconsin and that experience figures in his novel "Crossing to Safety".
