Short Turn Army Escort Wagon
The short turn army escort wagon was produced by International Harvester for the U.S. Army from 1917 to 1918 and was developed primarily along the lines of specifications laid out by the U.S. Army Quartermaster Department in 1916. Production of the wagon was divided between the Plano and Weber works in Chicago. The woodwork of the wagon was to be painted olive drab, all iron fittings were to be painted black. The letters “U.S.” are stenciled on the front sides. The name and location of the maker was to be stenciled on the front of the tool box. The wagon was to be constructed out of a combination of hardwoods (oak, hickory, or rock elm) and white or yellow pine. |
