Washington Grapes

A fox wearing a coat with a skull and the initials J.D. on it also has a Confederate flag tail, crossed bones on his hip, a hat and a walking stick under his arm. He is hungrily eyeing a bunch of grapes hanging over a wall representing Washington, D.C. The top of the wall is protected by bayonets. Text at top reads: "WASHINGTON GRAPES." The illustration is a reference to the Aesop fable, The Fox and the Grapes, whose moral is that it is easy to despise what one cannot get. Black ink on cream envelope. Illustration on left side, printed on envelope, mounted on a decorative border and collected in an album. |
