Officer-Front Face!-Eyes Right!!! Envelope Design

A rare "risque" (for the time) design. A row of soldiers look away from their officer at a young lady as she lifts her skirts to step over a puddle, exposing her ankles and calves. A military camp and Union flag are in the background. The caption below reads: "Officer-FRONT FACE!-EYES RIGHT!!!" Below that the officer is saying "Why in th—thunder don't you turn your faces to the front?" Red and blue ink on cream envelope, image on left. |
