The original typewritten caption reads: "New Hope School. New Hope School near Scottsboro, Ala. it is appropriately named. A few years ago this school was almost destroyed by a severe wind storm. It has now been rebuilt and the teachers - two ambitious young ladies - are having the damaged trees removed, the yard graded, walks built, grass seed sown, and are making flower beds, and most of this work is being done by the school children under direction. The school house is painted, an unusual thing for a country school in Alabama." This photograph was taken for International Harvester's Agricultural Extension Department. Folder: Campaigns |
