The original typewritten caption reads (sic): "Montgomery State Normal School - colored. The colored State Normal School at Montgomery is a great institution and is doing a great work for the Southern negros. Prof. Edgar Green held an enthusiastic meeting here, after which the entire audience was taken to this part of the building and were photographed. There were nearly 1,000 in attendance."
