Painting
Civil War Soldier with Wagon Wheel

Oil on linen study of a Civil War soldier holding up a wagon wheel. The painting was a preliminary study done by F.W. Heine or one of the Germany panorama painters active in Milwaukee during the 1880s. Once thought to be for a Gettysburg cyclorama, Heine's diaries have established that it was intended for paintings of the Atlanta or Missionary Ridge battles. |
