Painting
Wounded Civil War Soldier
Oil on linen study of a wounded Union Civil War soldier partially reclining on the ground created by one of the German panorama painters active in Milwaukee during the 1880s. Although unsigned it was likely painted by F.W. Heine. Once thought to represent a scene from a Gettysburg cyclorama, Heine's diaries suggest it was intended for a cyclorama of the Atlanta or Missionary Ridge battles. The text,"No. 77" appears in the lower left corner. |
