Painting
Civil War Cannon and Ammunition

Oil on linen study of a Civil War cannon with ammunition wagon attached. The painting was created by one of a group of German panorama painters active in Milwaukee during the 1880s. This study was likely done by F.W. Heine or Franz Rohrbeck. Heine's diaries at the Milwaukee Historical Society suggest that the sixteen studies at the Wisconsin Historical Society were done for the Battle of Atlanta or Battle of Missionary Ridge cycloramas, not for a Gettysburg panorama. |
