Marker for Old Abe placed on the bank of the Chippewa River in Eau Claire by the Eau Claire chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The marker reads "From here embarked for the Civil War Company C. 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, Capt. John E. Perkins commanding on Friday, Sept. 6, 1861. With them went the famous American Eagle 'Old Abe'". |
