Ella Flagg Young was an American educator who lived from January 15, 1845 to October 26, 1918. Her teaching career spanned 53 years, including acting as the Chicago Superintendent of Schools, professor of education at the University of Chicago, principal of the Chicago Normal School, and Superintendent of schools of Chicago.
