Old Abe Reproduction
An eagle of the same type as "Old Abe," eagle mascot of the 8th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War, displayed in the Civil War Room at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. The original Old Abe, after he died and was mounted, was destroyed in the Capitol fire in Madison in 1904. This specimen, from the Hattie Maddocks Roddy collection, was formerly displayed at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin. |
