Waist-up seated oval studio portrait of Peter Hanson, a private in Company A, 15th Wisconsin infantry, wearing his uniform. He is holding his musket across his lap and a bayonet in its scabbard on his side. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Bad Ax County, Wisconsin. On December 16, 1861, he enlisted and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on December 20, 1861, at the age of 40. During the war, he was detached to serve with the Pioneer Corps. On September 14, 1864 he was sent to work on the Chattanooga, Tennessee water works. He was mustered out of service with Company A on December 20, 1864, at Chattanooga, Tennessee |
