Three-quarter length cabinet card portrait, in front of a painted backdrop and with a prop fence, of Hans A. Lageson [as written on published of Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1; also written as Largeson on Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20], a private in Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Alamakee, Iowa. On January 1, 1862, he enlisted and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on January 27, 1862, at the age of 23. He was wounded on September 9, 1863, during the battle at Chickamauga, Georgia and taken as a prisoner of war. He was exchanged as a prisoner, but was not discharged with the company. Instead he was hospitalized at the Harvey Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin and on January 23, 1865, he was discharged from Harvey Hospital. |
