Louis Nelson Bolstad
Head and shoulders oval studio portrait of Louis Nelson Bolstad [as written on the photograph backing; also written as Louis Nelson on Regimental Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 and published rosters: Wisconsin Volunteers: War of the Rebellion, 1861-1865 (1914) and Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers: War of the Rebellion, 1861-1865, Vol. 1 (1886)], a private in Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry in uniform, holding a musket across his chest. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Cambridge, Wisconsin. On October 10, 1861, he enlisted and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on November 16, 1861, at the age of 19. He was wounded during the battle at Stone River, Tennessee on December 31, 1862, and was sent to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee until September 1863. He was killed in action during the battle on Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia on June 28, 1863. He was buried in Marietta Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia, Section: G, Grave: 1449. |
