Waist-up oval studio portrait of Lars Thorgerson Thomaset, [as written on published Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1 and on the Regimental Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 “Blue Books”; written as Thorgerson Tommaset Regimental Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 “Red Books”], a private in Company E, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform, holding his musket across his chest. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Moscow, Wisconsin. On December 16, 1862, he enlisted in Iowa County, Wisconsin and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on January 1, 1862, at the age of 32. On August 21, 1862, he was left sick at Iuka, Mississippi, but was later transported to Jackson, Tennessee where he died of chronic diarrhea on September 11, 1862. He was initially buried in Jackson, Tennessee, but re-buried in Corinth, Mississippi. |
